The Wedding Diaries – Marlow – 13/08/2016

17th October 2016
Weekends don't get much better than this one! Another Saturday, another wedding. This time a beautiful summers day in Marlow, on the Thames.
The most stunning location for a church and an awesome friendly couple (Rebecca and Iain). Great, lets get to Marlow!

It wasn't a perfect start.
Some men are scared of spiders. I'm scared of sitting next to an annoyingly loud person on a train journey. Also spiders.
I put my fate in the hands of the ticket gods as I boarded the train. 3 hours later, I had pulled most of my hair out and ground my teeth down to the point that I'd be having soup for dinner!
I don't pretend to be an authority on social etiquette, but at what point is it acceptable to have your phone on loud and then have a text conversation with over 300 (yes, I counted) loud message alerts?!

Anyway, I've gone off topic somewhat. Back to wedding photography.
Rebecca and Iain kindly put me up at Fredrick's Spa Hotel in Maidenhead, which would also be the destination for the evening reception of the wedding. Perfect! A great chance to pop out the day before and scout all the areas that the wedding would take place and make some plans for photography.
Minus the resident drunk continuously falling in the river whilst shouting obscenities to anyone in earshot, this went really well and gave me a clear idea of the lighting to expect on the wedding day.
Did I also mention it was a Spa Hotel?! (don't worry, I won't post the pool side selfies here)

Saturday came around and the weather didn't disappoint!
I started documenting the groom preparations and the setting up at Fredricks before heading over to the Bride prep for the rest of the morning.

Unfortunately, photography was only allowed from the back of the church, but I whipped the telephoto lens out and worked from the back of the church.
It has to be said that this is one of the most photogenic locations that I have shot a wedding. All Saints Church, right on the banks of the River Thames, next to Marlow Bridge. We made the most of it and stayed back for some photographs of just the Bride and Groom.

The day finished back at the lovely Fredrick's Spa Hotel, and I stayed late to capture some images of the guests cutting shapes on the dance floor.
